The Wild Onion

The Wild Onion is a Chicago-based restaurant concept I created and branded. Emphasizing the importance of local culture and food, the concept is focused on the etymology of the word “Chicago”, which “is derived from a French rendering of the Native American word shikaakwa, translated as ‘wild onion’ or ‘wild garlic’, from the Miami-Illinois language”*. I created the logo by cutting an onion in half and using it as a stamp, some variations of which can be found on the coasters.
